What to do when asked for verification
When a research system, funder, or publisher asks you to verify your identity, you stay in control. Cividens converts the evidence you provide into simple yes/no verification values — the requesting party learns whether you are verified, never the underlying details or documents.
Steps
- Check that the requester supports Cividens verification (they query using your ORCID iD)
- Review your account's sharing settings and decide which verifications to share
- Approve the request — responses are yes/no values such as "is valid" or "is person"
- Review your history: every request is logged, including what was asked and when
You can change subscriber access and sharing permissions at any time. If a requester asks for more than a verification value — for example, copies of your documents — that is not a Cividens flow; treat it with caution and let us know.
